About Us

2014 and 2015 Ella 7s Series.

The Ella Sevens series of events was first established in 2008 in Coffs Harbour as an annual National Indigenous Rugby Sevens tournament to provide an opportunity for past participants of the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team Inc and others to play rugby 7's.

Named after the illustrious Ella brothers, the Ella Sevens represents the culmination of many years of hard work teaching sporting skills and spreading the love of rugby. The tournament provides a showcase for Indigenous rugby and includes many players and coaches who have participated in our regional coaching clinics. In 2008 all but one of the teams playing in the competition had members who had previously participated in LMRDT programmes. .

The  Ella Sevens has been Broadcast by NITV and the organisation is working with NITV to have all of our events covered in 2014 and 2015.

The ARU have in the past invited the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development team to enter a team into the National ARU Women's 7's tournament.
